Avoiding School Shopping Stress
Shopping for school supplies can be a stressful activity for most parents. However, there are things you can do in order to make it easier for you. For instance, if you happen to have more than one child, make sure that you will take each one shopping on separate days. This will let you spend more quality time with your child and allow you to find out more about their individual shopping preferences. Make the shopping trip a special bonding activity so that both of you would have fun.
Before heading to the store, sit down with your child and make a list of the things that he or she will need in school. Create two categories on the list with the first one for supplies like notebooks and pens, while the second category would be for clothing items such as jeans and shirts. Go over this list and find out if there are some items which you do not actually have to buy. An example would be stuff like jackets and shoes which can be handed down from your older children to the younger ones. This will allow you to save on the money that you would otherwise spend on these items. The next thing you need to do is to set your budget for the shopping trip. You can even get your children involved so that they will understand the mechanics of creating budget and sticking to it. Go online and find out how much the items on the list tend to cost so you can come up with a more or less accurate estimate.
