Funding for teachers of English The most important source of funding for teachers of English for the last 12 years has been the Lingua B and subsequently the Comenius 2.2 actions of the European Union's Socrates programme.  This programme will be replaced by a new one for the period 2007-2013 and the proposed budget is 1.32 billion euros (1,320,000,000 Euros), enabling more than 6,000 European teachers to participate in courses held at schools and universities in EU and associated countries.
